Six leather half bound volumes with gilt detailing to the spines using red leather, marble paper covered boards, marbled page edges and marble paper pastedowns. With engraved frontispieces in each volume plus six illustrations each in Volumes I,II, and V. Six volumes of an eight volume set. Mary Anne Evans (1819 - 1880), better known by her pen name George Eliot, was an English novelist. She was one of the leading writers of the Victorian era. Her novels, largely set in provincial England, are well known for their realism. All books appear clean, tightly bound, with undamaged marbled front and back pages, with no previous owners names.
