Signed copy of the early poetry collection by the Nobel laureate Polish poet and writer, Czeslaw Milosz (1911-2004).



Ocalenie was Milosz' first book to published after World War II, thus many of his poems, written during the Nazi occupation of Poland appeared first in this extensive volume. Among others, it features the first printed appearance of his most remarkable poem sequence, The World: A Naive Poem, originally created in 1943 in one handwritten copy. The book also contains Milosz' famous poem about the revolt in the Warsaw Ghetto, Campo di Fiori, and several pieces from the volume Wiersze, published underground in 1943 under the pseudonym Jan Syruc.



The possessor of the book, Ludwik Bohdan Grzeniewski (1930-2008), was a Polish literary critic, essayist and poet.
