The original 1823-1824 printing of this beautiful collection of the entire works of Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778), in his native French and complete in 22 uniform octavo volumes. Bound in a 1/4 leather over marbled boards, 4 raised bands, decorative gilt-tooled compartments and bright gilt-lettering along the spine of each volume. Except for a tiny bit of chipping to the spine crown of Vol. 4, all volumes clean and bright and VG+ or better, with very light, inoffensive foxing to the preliminaries and along the text of several of the volumes. The first serious attempt to gather all the known writings of this major 18th century French philosopher, the Parisian publisher P.
