1852. Printed expressly for and presented to their friends by Sidney, Wells, & Co. 8 Ludgate Hill. 1852. Folio, bifolium (174 x 464mm), upper cover with Royal Crest and engraved vignette archectonic memorial to Wellington above a quotation by Disraeli within a black border. The lower cover has Eulogies to Wellington from The Earl of Derby, the Marquis of Lansdowne, Lord Brougham, Lord John Russell, Benjamin Disraeli and from the Daily Press. With a horizontal folding crease, a few closed tears and chipping to edges, generally a very good copy of a fragile ephemeron. First edition listing the members of the Funeral Procession from St James's Park to St. Paul's Cathedral, starting with Six Battalions of Infantry and ending with the Carriages of the Queen and Royal Family and "Troops to close the Procession". An interesting souvenir of Wellington's Funeral Procession, one of several produced to mark the event. Sidney, Wells & Co. were tea and coffee merchants. We presume that they had this souvenir printed to hand out to clients and guests who watched the Funeral Procession from their premises at 8 Ludgate Hill, on the approach to St Paul's Cathedral. The Duke of Wellington’s funeral in November 1852 was one of the most spectacular ever seen in England. The procession to St Paul’s Cathedral was watched by a crowd estimated at a million and a half people.
