About This Item
London: Collins Crime Club, 1961. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Fine/Near Fine. 8vo., 256pp. Beautiful First Edition, bound in red cloth with titles in black on spine. Square, tight and clean throughout with gentle bumping to spine ends and tips. No interior toning or spotting though there is a faint sticker ghost on the front paste-down. Very attractive unfaded and unclipped, though unpriced, dust-jacket, has a tiny closed edge-tear on the rear panel and a few rubs to edges. Still fresh and bright with no chipping or creases. The jacket is unpriced as it was one that would have been shipped to other countries in the British Empire that would have affixed a price sticker in its own currency. (This is likely the cause of the sticker ghost mentioned above. It is NOT a Book Club Edition. British BCE's are produced in a completely different manner than American BCE's but that is another topic. A quite sharp collectable copy at a great price.
Synopsis
The Pale Horse is a work of detective fiction by Agatha Christie. The novel features her novelist detective Ariadne Oliver as a minor character and reflects in tone the supernatural novels of Dennis Wheatley who was then at the height of his popularity. -
