London: Martin Secker, 1915. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. First Edition, bound in the publisher's original tan cloth with gilt particulars and decoration to front cover and spine. The account of British officer Harold Jacob, who spent the majority of his service in Yemen. This text takes the form of 13 vignettes, which Jacob refers to as "silhouettes" of his time amongst Yemeni people, noting their lifestyles and attitudes. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown and name to full title, as well as scattered notes in pencil throughout. Tissue guard for frontispiece is present. Cloth on boards shows some wrinkling, primarily at front cover. Boards are lightly soiled; gilt is faded, particularly at spine. Text block is lightly soiled. Binding is tight and square.
