About This Item

Tennant and Ward, 1904. Leather. The first 65 issues of the monthly photography magazine that began publication in 1899. Ten leather bound volumes containing six issues each bound without original covers or ads, and five volumes in original printed blue wrappers. Leather volumes 4-3/4 by 7-3/4 inches; paper volumes 5 by 8 inches. Each issued covered a single topic; topics here include Modern Lenses, Flowers and Trees, Home Portraiture, Vacation Photography, The Darkroom, Landscape Photography, and Aerial Photographs. According to camerapedia.wiki: 'Due to popular demand many issue numbers were reprinted a number of times and some issue numbers were rewritten and reissued to bring them up to date while they remained in print.' The leather-bound volumes are early reprints. Illustrated in black-and-white from drawings, diagrams and photographs. The leather volumes are stamped on the spine with out-of-sequence volume numbers unrelated to the magazine issues which otherwise appear in order. Leather Volume I includes Magazines Volume 1, Nos. 1-6. Leather Volume II includes Magazine Volume 1, Nos. 7-12. Leather Volume III includes Magazine Volume II, Nos. 13-18. Leather Volume IV includes Magazine Volume II, Nos. 19-24. Leather Volume V includes Magazine Volume III, Nos. 25-30. Leather Volume II, Part 2 includes Magazine Volume III, Nos. 31-36. Leather Volume IV, Part 1 includes Magazine Volume IV, Nos. 37-42. Leather Volume IV, Part 2 includes Magazine Volume IV, Nos. 43-48. Leather Volume V, Part 1 includes Magazine Volume V, Nos. 49-54. Leather Volume V Part 2 includes Magazine Volume V, Nos. 55-60. Each paperback volume published separately with original covers and ads, Volumes VI, Nos. 61-65. A mixed set of leather bound later printings of issues 1-60, and first editions of issues 61-65 in original printed blue wrappers. A very good 15 volume set. Leather volumes with five raised bands and gold lettering on the spines. A bit edge worn with some fading to spines. Water stains to issue 62. [JSP01; JSP04].
