A first edition. Handsomely bound tooled cloth it details the complex history of London through description and illustration. The illustrations in this work fist appeared in the Illustrated London News. They are in the form of both plate and vignette illustrations. They were deemed valuable to understanding the history of London and have been given by permission to Thomas Miller for their inclusion by the National Illustrated Library.Including 49 illustrated plates and vignettes ranging from churches both internal and external to London streets. collation complete. In a blindstamped cloth binding. Externally generally smart. Rubbing to the front joint. Bumping which has resulted in loss to the head and tail of the spine. Internally generally firmly bound. Pages 99 to 110 working loose. Pages clean. Marginal age toning. All illustrations clean. Very Good
