London: Methuen and Co, 1925. First edition. Hardback. Very Good. 9" by 7". E H Shepard. A collection of poetry for children by E V Lucas. With illustrations by popular artist, E H Shepard. Shepard is best known for his illustrations of A A Milne's 'Winnie the Pooh' as well as Kenneth Grahame's 'The Wind in the Willows'. Edward Verall Lucas was an English polymath. He wrote essays, plays, biographies, novels, short stories and poetry. He was a notable contributor of 'Punch' magazine, having joined the staff in 1904 and remaining until the end of his life. In the original quarter cloth binding with pictorial boards. Externally, bumped and rubbed to the extremities. Boards have faaded, with a few spots and marks. Loss to the spine label which is age-toned. Offsetting to front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with just the odd spots. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
