Dustjacket condition: Fair, generally shelfworn with some light soiling, light foxing and some sunning to spine. 226pp. 12 b/w illustrations, 3 b/w maps, one folding. In this book the author details the 17th century activities of the Portuguese in south-east Africa, from their base at Mocambique (Mozambique) up the Zambezi into Mashonaland, and on the Mombasa coast. An appendix summarises survivors' accounts of the shipwrecks on the coast of southern Africa during this period..
