About This Item
Roncade, Italy: Centro Editoriale Valtortiano, 1995. Hardcover. Fine. Hardcover. Fine; issued without dust jacket. English language edition. Collection of prayers written between 1943 and 1946 by Maria Valtorta (1897-1961) a Catholic Italian writer and lay member of the Servants Of Mary who reported personal conversations with and dictations from Jesus. In 1943, she began to assemb le some 15,000 handwritten pages containing what she claimed were direct messages from Jesus. About 10,000 of these pages were the basis of her most famous book, "The Poem of The Man-God" (1956); the book was placed on the Catholic Church's list of prohibited books and remains the source of controversy to this day.
