A superb-condition cinema-used Finnish A2 poster for the 1949 film JOHNNY STOOL PIGEON, starring Howard Duff, Shelley Winters and Dan Duryea. The film was first screened in Finnish cinemas in 1950 with no subsequent theatrical runs. This particular poster is a standard size 60cm x 40cm approx. It is in really excellent shape, Fine condition. There is a fold line near the top - slanted and visible only from the verso but none to the middle. At the top line of the titles in the letter "a" you can see a mounting hole and there is an enclosed tear surrounding the hole but this is almost invisible - I guess the poster was snatched from it's mounting without any ceremony. No further pinholes. At the bottom edge there is a very short tear and a smaller nick. Otherwise no edge wear apart from some minor handling creasing. The paper is extremely thin and has survived the intervening 70+ years fantastically well.… Read More

A vintage, original, Finnish cinema-used poster for the first screening in Finland of the German WW2 movie, Strafbataillon 999. The film was first screened in Finland in 1960 with no further subsequent releases. Designed by the prolific poster-artist Engel and printed by Salonen Oy. Signed in the plate. A stunning example of cinema advertising art, this poster is in Fine, vibrant condition, approximate size is 23.5 inches by 15.5 inches, standard Finnish A2 format. SIGNS OF USE: A rolled poster with no folding creases. Pinholes to the top corners only. There is a small tear to the top right corner at the artist's name. Otherwise in really Fine condition. For the best appreciation of condition please study the accompanying photograph which is high resolution.

A remarkable, apparently un-used Finnish A2 cinema-foyer poster for the celebrated Soviet-era, World War 2 movie, Zhivyje i mjortvyje known in English as The Alive and the Dead. Now acknowledged as a masterpiece the film attracted huge audiences on its release. The film was first screened in cinemas in Finland in November 1964 with no subsequent theatrical runs. This poster is not a modern reproduction or reprinting and nor is it Video/DVD-related. This particular poster is a standard size 60cm x 40cm approx and was printed by Rotapaino Oy, dated 1964. It is in Very Fine to Mint un-used condition - unfolded, free from pinholes or other signs of use. This is a rare poster in any condition but to find such a perfect example is a minor miracle. Sizes do vary very slightly depending on the printers involved and the era.
