In reading this book one is struck – among other things – by an apparent contradiction: psychosynthesis claims to be in experimentally and scientifically based psychology; on the other hand, it appears to have an affinity with the esoteric tradition – a perspective widely divergent, if not opposite, to the scientific approach. How can this contradiction be explained? The answer is simple. Esotericism and empirical science undoubtably at two ends of the spectrum; backspace: esotericism starts with universal statements about reality, and ends up with the particular and the contingent. Empirical science, instead starts, from the particular and the contingent and ends up in the universal, i.e. in general laws and principles. Esotericism is based on faith and intuition.
