London, Edinburgh and Glasgow, Kirkwall: Simpkin, Marshall, & Co. John Menzies & Co. Wm Peace & Son, 1883 A good to very good copy of the 1st edition in the original decorative cloth binding. The binding has gilt titles and black decoration to the front board and gilt titles to the spine. It is bright and clean. The spine is cocked and with some pulling and slight fraying at the top and bottom. There is slight mottling and a little bubbling to the cloth on the back board, and overall light wear to corners. Internally the original yellow endpapers are present - with some splitting starting at the bottom part of the rear joint. Contents with title; poem to Orkney; preface; contents 3 pp and text pp 1-177 including appendix. Contents in very good clean condition.
