About This Item

From the Preface: "The following view of the religious denominations of the world has been carefully compiled from the best authorities on the subject. In order to render it as complete as the limits of the volume would permit, the method has been followed of presenting summaries of the doctrines of each sect or religion without in general adducing the arguments by which they are sustained."

Note: Even though the cover says Edgewood Edition Illustrated, the only illustration that I saw was of Martin Luther across from the title page.

My Note: There is an Alphabetical Index at the front that covers both Vol. I and Vol. II. However, the religions do not appear to be alphabetical in the book.

Good condition. Blue cloth over boards with black embellishment and title in gold gilt block. Covers have some bumping and soiling. Spine has some fading. There is spine and corner wear. Printed end papers. Previous owner's name is stamped on a front blank page and on the Preface page. Pages are lightly tanned. Text is free of marks, but there are occasional marks/spots on pages. Binding is tight. A good reading copy.

318 pages.
