Publisher's original black cloth-backed boards with silver spine lettering, octavo, pp. lii, 355. Black and white illustrations. [With:] Two boxed cassette tapes featuring live recordings and dramatic readings of interviews with former slaves. Tapes from Smithsonian Production radio documentary. The whole in a Very Good illustrated cardboard slipcase. (The tapes were published in conjunction with the book and on this day, July 8th, 2023, they are in Very Good condition with no squeaking, dragging, skipping, or hissing detected in a 10 minute playing by us of each tape. Note that the tapes are not guaranteed to remain in present condition due to age.)
