Pages: [4], [1-5]. 6-35, [1], [5]-7, [5] 6-41, [8], 50-79, [3], original publisher's pebbled cloth, gilt lettering to spine, blind decoration to covers, pale yellow endpapers, page edges untrimmed. He is chiefly remembered for his major work 'Nouvelle Maison Rustique,' or 'The New Rustic House.' Originally titled 'General Economics of Country Goods,' this work went through dozens of editions and reissues following its initial release in 1700. This work covers all aspects of rural life in an encyclopedic form including hunting, gardening, fishing, falconry, wine and beer making, cooking, and bee keeping.
This two-volume sixth edition is filled with 34 fascinating full-page and folding plates as well as 30 in-text woodcut engravings. The 5th-10th editions of 'Maison Rustique' were edited by Henri Besnier.

Receipts for four simultaneous purchases of wine from the Bordeaux wine merchant Maison Clossman, each for delivery to a different palace of Emperor Napoleon III: Palais des Tuileries, Palais de L'Elysée, Palais de St. Cloud, Palais de Fontainebleau. The items are numbered across the four invoices in consecutive order, with one hundred seven items in all, most large quantities in barrels or cartons of fifty bottles each. The fourth and final invoice contains an additional stamp in green ink, "Maison de [ill.], Service de la Regie de Palais de Fontainbleu". Folded, with creases. Near fine.
