Map front endpapers; Loose folded map ("Western Territories In The Forties") laid in at rear. Edition limited to 1400 copies, of which this is #903. 7 1/4" x 11". Tan cloth with gilt spine titling. Brewerton's narrative originally appeared in Harper's New Monthly Magazine of August 1853. It presents an accurate portrait of Kit Carson and describes their journey from Los Angeles to Taos over what came to be known as the Old Spanish Trail.
