Each plate with the title printed below the border. 95 line illustrations throughout, some full page. Previous owners neat name on front blank endpaper otherwise a fine copy in original burgundy cloth with gilt illustrations and lettering to front board and spine. Front board with quadruple ruled black borders, spine ruled in gilt. In the scarce original publshers dustwrapper with colour illustration mounted onto the front panel, below black lettering and four line border. Flaps and other panels lettered in black. Original printed price (15/-) on spine has been blacked out neatly. Aside from a couple of tiny chips to the wrapper this is a beautiful fine example of this well produced edition. Scarce in this condition.:

The contents are tight and clean but for a previous owner name on the inside of the front cover. The board have a little soiling and light edge wear to the corners and spine ends. All text pages are in VG or better condition, except title page which carries some very small brown stains/spotting, some very minor (barely discernible) foxing on front and rear endpapers, and some light brown stains (not foxing) on pp. 58-59. All colour illustrations clear and bright. Spine is slightly sun-faded, but all type on spine and covers is crisp. Foxing to rear cover, some grubbiness on front cover. 1969. A two page manuscript letter signed by Tasha Tudor with stamped envelope. Miss Tudor writes that she is poor in giving information about her work as she never keeps records or clippings of her work and finds gardening as her favorite pastime. Inscribed "Best wishes to you & a/ Happy New Year./ Sincerely/Tasha Tudor. With a charming drawing of a rabbit below.

Early American editions. Both Volumes are very good clean copies in contemporary leather bindings of half black calf, raised bands, extra gilt. Marbled paper on boards and endpapers. All edges marbled. Some rubbing to extremities but still an attractive early bound pair.
