Original cloth in dust-wrapper (not price-clipped); pp. [viii], 248; illustrations from photographs by Joan Eyres Monsell, one sketch map; apart from light rubbing to head of spine, minor marginal creases to to wrapper, a near-fine and very bright copy. First edition. Fermor's 'memorable' (ODNB) book on the slightly more northern parts of Greece, including Crete and Missolonghi (where he discovers Byron's slippers). Roumeli is the ancient name for the lands from the Bosphorus to the Adriatic and from Macedonia to the Gulf of Corinth.
