Published two years after Empson's death, the book includes "Three stories: a one-act melodrama", unpublished poems and fragments, uncollected poems, "The Royal Beasts: a fable", and "The Elephant and the Birds: a plan for a ballet" with letters concerning the last from the Empson Papers. 8vo, light gray cloth with gilt lettering on spine, no visible wear, light toning to end papers, edges and page margins age-tanned, in clipped DJ with UK bookstore price label affixed next to where the original price was clipped, back flap a little soiled. Pages unmarked.
