In the century following the Council of Trent, numerous important treatises on the famed ecumenical council were regularly published and reprinted. These works, especially that by Philippe Chifflet, were written to bring clarity and understanding to Europe's attempts at Protestant reforms, and, unfortunately, many of these books were placed on the Prohibited Books Index by the Catholic Church.
This 1678 edition of Chifflet's "Council of Trent" was published in Genoa.
