Minor shelf/edge wear to blue cloth embossed boards with fleur de lis/border/initials. Gilt titles on oval creme spine label with gilt filagree border - corners sharp. Lightly faded blue topstain. Moderate shelf/edge wear to original clipped Dj - now in mylar. No previous owner markings - all pages are clean and unmarked. Edna Ferber (August 15, 1885 â April 16, 1968) was an American novelist, short story writer and playwright. Ferber was a member of the Algonquin Round Table, a group of wits who met for lunch every day at the Algonquin Hotel in New York. This is a story of a notorious Creole woman, Clio Dulaine, who returns to her native New Orleans and marries a Texas gambler, Colonel Clint Maroon. Book serves as the basis for the 1945 film, Saratoga Trunk, starring Gary Cooper and ingrid Bergman. Very handsome vintage First Edition in DJ. LOC SSS-04
