About This Item

Albuquerque: University of New Mexico, 1951. This is a "semi-fictional" biography of Dr. Carlos Montezuma ("Wassaja" in his native tongue). an Apache boy sold by the Pima to an Anglo who raised him. His outstanding mind led Wassaja to become a prominent physician and an important Native American activist. With the rise of the various Native American rights movements, these early heroes are being rediscovered. This is a Fine copy of the First Edition, a typical lovely production by the University of New Mexico Press. Gray cloth binding with red lettering on the front cover and spine. Clean text; ix, 273 pages, with Appendices. Very bright and fresh. The dustjacket is Very Good (Plus) to Near Fine. Very bright, but shows some light edgewear. In an archival plastic protector. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First Edition.. Hard Cover. Fine/Very Good Plus.
