1924. London, Macmillan, 1924. 8vo. Original green cloth, upper board blocked in gilt with vignette of Australian aborigine, spine lettered in gilt; pp. xi, 184; 48 photographic plates after Aiston, one folding map printed in blue and black, text illustration and printed music in the text; extremitieis with very light rubbing, ligh brow spotting at beginning and end, otherwise a very good copy. First edition. A study of the Wonkonguru people and their neighbours in the region east of Lake Eyre. Aiston had twenty years of experience as a mounted trooper among the desert tribes. The authors were resident in the area and based their studies on those of Spencer and Gillen, the former of whom read the book in manuscript.
