About This Item

New York: Harcourt Brace and Company, 1939. First Edition 8vo size linen-like buckram or cloth cover with brown title block with green lettering and decoration. It's a lovely cover, silky to the touch, not your typical clothbound book. 485 deckle edged pages with brown topstain. Frontispiece is a gorgeous three-color wood block illustrations by Paul Honore. There are no other illustrations. Book fits in a slipcover sleeve box. The slipcase is a brown print with a green title block with coordinating brown lettering and decoration. Author Dorothy Canfield Fisher is perhaps best known for her children's and young adult books, namely Understood Betsy. There is discoloration to interior seams, an address sticker on inside cover, penciled prices on fep. The pages are toned and there are two small dark spots on the inside of back cover. The slipcase is split at bottom and partially at top and has some shelf wear. Family historians note: the name on the sticker is Helena Stout. Thanks for shopping with us! 100% of your purchase benefits charity and supports literacy and lifelong learning.. First Edition. Buckram. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Honore, Paul. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
