About This Item
Hardcover with dust jacket, published by Modern Library. The first edition of this title was published in 1956, this copy is a later printing as it has the #11 binding style which was in use from 1963-1967. A collection of thirty stories including, The Pair, On Account of a Hat, Tevye Wins a Fortune, Hodel and others. Aleichem's stories about Tevye were the inspiration for 'Fiddler on the Roof'. The dust jacket is intact, though it has been price clipped. Dust jacket has been protected with a clear, removable cover. Jacket has some edge wear at the head and heel of the spine and top corner. Red clot covered boards are flat, binding is tight and square. There is an inscription to the former owner on the frontispiece, fills the entire page. No further writing besides that though. Edges of the text block are clean. This is not a library discard copy. The attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.
