About This Item

(Bloemfontein: Senator M. P. A. Malan, 1956). 8vo; original printed card wrappers bound within blue cloth over boards, which is lettered in silver gilt on upper cover; pp. 26; wrappers partially browned. Near fine condition. Strydom's address is followed by a synopsis of his reply to key points in the ensuing debate. History records that the Nationalists under D F Malan made several attempts to pass the Separate Representation of Voters Bill after the opposition of the United Party when it was placed before Parliament, and the successful appeal of four coloured voters to their removal from the voters' roll. Under new leader Strijdom (Strydom), the National Party contrived to finalise the effective disenfranchisement of Coloured voters. An important document in the history of race relations within South Africa. .
