Boston: Ticknor and Fields, 1861. Third Edition . Hardcover. Very Good+. lxxv, 365 pp. (pp 85-365 uncut.) Brown pebbled cloth, spine title gilt. Includes 10 popular sermons. Ordained as a Unitarian minister, the Reverand Parker became too liberal for the Unitarians. His supporters organized the 28th Congregational Society of Boston, a so called free church; he was installed as minister in January 1846. Parker endorsed women's suffrage. He served as the abolitionists' Minister at Large to fugitive slaves in Boston, and condemned the Fugitive Slave Act; he was arrested in a attempt to free a captured slave. Spine faded, otherwise a sharp copy VG+
