An historical narrative of the African slave trade between the early 1500's to 1859. Dow's book "describes the warfare between tribes and the taking of prisoners, raids for the sole purpose of taking captives to be sold as slaves, African slave markets, slave auctions, voyages of the slave ships, and the conditions existing in all areas of the trade ashore and afloat."
