About This Item
New York: F. Mansfield, 1898. First American edition. Hardcover. Very good condition. An important tome in Western Australian exploration. Carnegie's aims were to determine the nature of the country between Warburton & Forrest's routes, ascertain whether any auriferous areas existed to the north & to examine the possibility of a direct stock route between the two goldfields.
Lge 8vo, xvi + 454pp. Frontispiece and ills in text and folding maps. A mild ex-library copy that was clearly never read, of the scarce New York edition. Orig. tan gilt & black decorated cloth extremely bright, with faint mark at bottom, handsome library bookplate inside front, tiny blind stamp on title. Clearly, no on in Manchester Vermont read this book, and no wonder. Extremely crisp internally. F7960.
