New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1996. First edition thus. 375 pages. The first U.S. hardcover edition of the first Frank Bascombe novel. Ford would go on to win a Pulitzer Prize for "Independence Day" which along with "The Lay of the Land" also featured Bascombe. A clean and tight very near fine copy and in a very near fine dust jacket. Signed by Ford on a tipped in page done by the publisher. A fresh unread copy.

Synopsis

The author of five novels and two collections of stories, Richard Ford was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the PEN/Faulkner Award for Independence Day , the first book to win both prizes. In 2001 he received the PEN/Malamud Award for excellence in short fiction.
