Fortescue, a British military historian by trade, and originally published in 1897.The first illustrated edition of this work, containing twelve full page illustrated plates in colour, and twelve illustrated plates in gravure, all by G.D. Armour. Collated and complete. Containing a previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpaper, dated 1931. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with gilt design to the front board. Externally, very smart, with just light shelf wear and a small amount of bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
