"The Trackman's Helper" - A Book of Instruction for Track Foremen by J. Kindelan. 1894 3rd edition (stated); Roadmaster and Foreman; Chicago. "Revised and enlarged with new illustrations and tables." There are 31 numbered illustrations. Decorative end papers. There is a 30-page advertisement section at the back; most of the ads are illustrated. The contents are as follows: New Road; Spring Track Work; Summer Track Work; Fall Track Work; Winter Track Work; Frogs and Switches; Curved Track; General Instructions; Wrecking; Miscellaneous.
Condition:
There are small stains on the front cover, and a stain at the bottom edge of the text block. Bright gilt on the front cover and spine. Sharp cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Nice interior - the text pages are lightly age-toned and mostly clean with only some smudges/stains at the outer margin of pages 88 & 89. Name/date (1928) written in pencil on front end paper. Overall the book is in Very Good- condition.
