About This Item

UK,slim 12mo French wraps,1st edn. [Translated from the Dutch.] VG+. Owner's name and contemporary date to blank after ffe and before half-title page.and an ink stamped SIGILLUM ECCLESIAE STAE HELENAE, GREAT CROSBY seal illustration,to reverse of last page of the preface.Same ink stamp seal repeated to reverse of the last page of the appendix at rear of the book. [Great Crosby is an area of the town of Crosby, in the now, Metropolitan Borough of Sefton (formed April,1974), Merseyside,England and is historically, part of Lancashire.] Sharp-cornered and fairly bright, yellow +red bands with red+black lettering to stiff paper French wraps front cover, red+black letters to spine/backstrip and a black lettered publisher's advert list to rear cover.A small blemish to front cover.Top+fore-edges lightly aged/toned; contents bright, tight and clean, solid and sound - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corner tips - appears unread apart from my own collation.UK,slim 12mo French wraps,1st edn, v-viipp+1-61pp [paginated] includes a preface, and a nationalist sympathiser's view and account of the "outrages against the Church and Catholic people" of republican Spain, much of it derived from personal knowledge of the victims; plus [unpaginated] ffe, blank,half-title+title pages and to the rear,an appendix in Pts I+II - Alcala Zamora's article in L'ERE Nouvelle.' . The author was a former Ambassador of Holland to the Court of Madrid, and was well known in European diplomacy.
No less important is the brilliant description of the background to the conflict,by a neutral observer of long experience and the highest reputation, given in the preface, by Prof. Dr. L. H; Grondys.
An excellently preserved and tidy example of ephemera from the period, which is also uncommon in as good a state as this.
