New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1960. First US Edition Thus/1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. A first printing of the definitive edition - 'revised, reset and reprinted from new plates'. In beige pictorial cloth with brown and blue line work. Top page ends tinted blue. Some foxing to board ends and peripheries and a few to page ends and endpapers. Interior otherwise clean and binding solid. New Yorker article on Kafka by Cynthia Ozick from The New Yorker laid in. Jacket is price-clipped with some chipping to corners and spine ends, a few tears to top of rear panel and spine, tanning with some spot stains and sticker shadow to spine. Some tanning with light foxing to rear panel as well and a few scuffs to front panel. With the wonderful jacket/cover designs and illustarations by George Salter.
