One of 1000 hand-numbered copies printed in the Riccardi Fount on handmade Riccardi Paper. Fine leather binding of recent full deep red morocco. Spine with five raised bands, ruled in gilt. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated with March Hare and Playing cards motifs in gilt, with floral gilt surrounds. Ruled gilt border on boards. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. A bright and clean copy of this lovely edition, beautifully printed on fine quality hand made paper and in a decorative leather binding. ----- This edition was published by arrangement with Macmillan and Company using Carroll's revised text of 1896. The wonderful Tenniel illustrations are printed from fresh electros taken from the original wood-blocks, with four being slightly enlarged from the original block designs.

Longmans, Green, and Co. London and Bombay. 1902. FIRST EDITION. Colonial Issue. 8vo. (7.4 x 5.3 inches). Illustrated with sixteen mono plates by Sidney Paget. Tisue guard to the frontispiece. A few of the plates are bound in different places than listed on the contents page but all are present. 4 pages of publishers adverts for the colonial library at the rear of the book. The text and illustrations are fine, clean and bright throughout and look unread. Publishers decorative green cloth which has dark blue illustration to the front board and spine. Gilt lettering to the spine. Decorative light blue and white floral endpapers with ship and swan designs. There are a couple of small closed tears to the spine and the cloth is a bit rubbed and bumped and has a few small marks but is generally in very good condition with the gilt on the spine still quite bright. J. Maisonneuve et Ch. Leclerc. Paris. 1889. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (9.9 x 6.4 inches). vii, 300pp. A very good copy in a fine early leather binding of full dark green morocco. Spine with gilt ruled lines, floral design and lettering. Front board with ruled panels and floral designs, all in gilt Single gilt ruled border to the rear board and board edges. Gilt inner dentelles. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Armorial bookplate of noted author of books on folklore and topography, Sir George Laurence Gomme (1853 - 1916) on the front pastedown. Some offsetting to the endpapers from the leather turn-ins. A little rubbing to the extremities and the spine faded to an attractive brown but overall still a lovely copy of this scarce work in a fine quality binding. The binding is unsigned but is certainly the work of a master bookbinder.

C. Bathurst, W. Strahan, J and F. Rivington.... London. 1770. NINE VOLUMES. 8vo. Illustrated with 24 copper engravings. Very good bright set bound in contemporary full tan calf, spines ruled in gilt. Each volume with red morocco title label, decorated and lettered in gilt. Some rubbing and chipping to most volumes and a few hinges cracked but all still holding. Overall an attractive set of eighteenth century bindings. Previous owners bookplate on front paste downs.

Stanfield.Finely bound in nineteenth century half green calf. Spine with raised bands. Compartments with rules and jagged lines and floral centre pieces, all in gilt. Red title label, gilt. Marbled paper on boards. Plain brown endpapers with a small book label of Mills Bookshop of London to the rear paste down endpaper. Some minor rubbing to binding and edges a bit bumped but overall a very good copy.

John Murray. London. 1927. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (7.4 x 5 inches). A fine clean copy throughout. Finely bound, by Zaehnsdorf for Asprey and Co, in recent full black morocco. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt wavy lines. Compartments ruled and lettered in gilt. Boards with gilt ruled border. Board edges with single gilt ruled lines. Turn-ins with elaborate floral gilt decoration. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. A highly attractive leather binding.

One of 1000 sets printed on Japon vellum (The Apochrypha is one of 1250 copies) from a total edition of 1075 copies. The typography was arranged by Frances Meynell. Each volume decorated with copperplate engravings by Stephen Gooden, including the title pages. A lovely clean set finely bound in recent full black morocco, decorative gilt border to boards. Spines with raised bands, each with decorative gilt piping and ruling. Red title labels, gilt. Top edges gilt, others untrimmed. A beautiful set.

John Murray. London. 1977. FIRST EDITION. SIGNED BY STONE, and with 8 ephemeral items of his of printed work. 4to. Fully illustrated with 151 pages of designs, most with several images to each page. Signed by Stone in black ink on the title page. Also there are 8 pieces of his printed work, one inscribed by Stone on the back, loosely inserted; Prospectus for The Old rectory suite of engravings, Bookplate for David Potter, vignette view with 'keepsake from Reynolds Stone' motif below, Waterfall view on single sheet, Bookplate for Iain Bain, Prospectus for Boxwood suite of engravings, Artist in the woods illustration on single sheet, and A child in the woods illustration printed onto card and inscribed by Stone on the rear 'Dear Norah.
