First printing of this reflection on the significance and structure of the practice of amateur photography, by one of the leading French sociologists of the 20th century. Pierre Bourdieu wrote on a number of subjects that pondered the formation of aesthetic tastes across different societal classes. This reflection on photography as an art form is an excellent example of his approach to sociology. 8.75'' x 5.25''. Original pictorial wrappers, perfect-bound. Illustrated in black and white. 362 pages. Wrapper with mild toning, a couple tiny areas of soil; three shallow creases to spine. Spine cracked to a couple openings. Clean and firm.
