Irish Lancers. Dark green cloth, gilt title to spine & impressed military gilt logo to face. Considerable bumps & rubs, some shelf wear to upper & lower edges and heavy damage to head of spine. Some marks to boards. ACC* Jacket condition: No dust wrapper. ND* Contents condition: Officer?s Mess copy for the 5th Royal Irish Lancers with a bookplate to front paste-down & dedication to the officer?s mess. Coloured end papers (pale yellow). All edges somewhat aged. Sewn binding badly shaken but no pages missing. Contents clean and crisp, with some reading wear. A few light marks. ACC* Illustrations: Eight full page b/w line drawn illustrations.* Pages: 362 pp. text. iii pp. blank pages at rear.* Description: The Un-commercial Traveller consists of a collection of literary sketches and reminiscences written by Charles Dickens. They first appeared in a new journal called ?All the Year Round? which he founded in 1859. These articles would be among his main contributions. Dickens began by writing seventeen episodes, which were printed in 1860. He then produced eleven more articles between 1863?65 and some more sketches written between 1868?69. The complete set of these articles was published posthumously in book-form in 1875.* An ACC only reading copy with considerable age and wear.*
