About This Item

Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Co., 1981. First Edition, Stated. Cloth. Very good/good +. 160p. Price clipped jacket with scrape on back. Turbeville is one of the photographers credited with revolutionizing fashion photography by employing “faded color, black-and-white and sepia tones; prints...often deliberately overexposed, rendering her subjects spectral,” displaying a “dreamlike, melancholy beauty.” Here she applies these techniques to the “hidden, dusty spaces underpinning Louis XIV’s grand palace.” [New York Times, Obituary, October 25, 2013] B&w and color photographs. (12-1/4"x9-1/4")

Reviews

On Aug 1 2011, said:
The photos in this book are one of the primary reasons we purchased this book. But, in our opinion, most of the photos in this book are of very poor quality. Had we been able to see the book content before purchasing it we certainly would NOT have purchased it - at any price.
