First edition of this vivid biography, capturing the history and atmosphere of the silent screen era. Tight and nice and bearing a unique autograph addition: Tipped to an inner flyleaf is a Typed Letter Signed from Shulman, 1p, 5" X 7¼", Los Angeles, CA, 1973 January 17. Addressed to Mr. Stanhope. "Of course I'll autograph your copy of Valentino," he writes, and gives instructions, closing with: "I hope you'll include a book envelope, have it addressed properly, postage, etc." Bold signature. Shulman (1913-95) also authored the bestselling biography "Harlow: An Intimate Biography" (1964, film version 1965) and wrote the screenplay for "Rebel Without a Cause.
