Akola, Berar India: North Berar Mission, 1888. HB. Red cloth, black lettering and designs on front cover, 16mo, unpaginated [74 pp]. Title page in both Marathi (?) and English, one page introduction in English, text in Marathi. Children's book written by Fuller (1851-1900), adapted and translated into Marathi from a book written by a Miss Small of the Free Church Mission at Poona. Jennie Frow Fuller was a native of Ohio, attended Oberlin College, and traveled to India to serve as a missionary in 1876. She served 3 years at Ellichpur, Berar. Returning to America, she married a college classmate, Marcus Fuller, in 1881. They both served at Akola, Berar as missionaries. From 1892 they served as superintendents of the Alliance Mission in Bombay. Jennie Fuller died of cholera in 1900. This book a presentation copy, with the inscription "Dear Mrs. Spence, with Jennie Fuller's Love. Mar. 21, 88." Very Scarce title. No marks in book, binding tight. Small hole in center of pages containing the introduction in English and Marathi, lower corner of English introduction page clipped, not affecting and text. Book condition VG.
