Yale UP [Third printing, December 1965]. Hard Cover. xii, [1] p., V facsimile plates, 291 p., indexes, maps & charts (some folding); 30 cm. Contents include The Manuscript: History and Description, by Thomas E. Marston; Facsimiles of the Vinland Map and the Tartar Relation; The Tartar Relation Edited, with Introduction, Translation, and Commentary, by George D. Painter; The Vinland Map by R. A. Skelton; The Tartar Relation and the Vinland Map: An Interpretation, by George D. Painter; and a bibliography. Although it was subsequently established that the ink used to draw the map could not have been made before 1920, the ink in the other two works, and the parchment and paper in all three works, were found to date from about 1440, as had been previously believed. Stock# 39,105. Vg, lightly mottled red covers, spine stamped in maroon & gold; a little shelfwear/ no dj. Exploration, discovery, cartography, paleohistory.
