New York: D. Appleton, 1851. First edition. Hardcover. Very good. American sea captain for 26 years, undertook privateering during the war of 1812. Most of the voyages undertaken were between North and South America. Includes one notable voyage in the Schooner Sea serpent 1821-22 between NY & Callao Peru. 213pp & 2 pp ads, engraved frontis & 4 litho. plates. Orig. blind stamped decorated green cloth. Cover has a discolored circle visible. Written on the Inside front cover is the pencil signature of "John Pindie 1851" Hill P57.
