First Edition. 8 vo,. pict. paper wraps, 76 pages, illustrated, some age discoloration to covers, else very good, The town is situated on the northeast end of the island and was incorporated in 1950. In the 1890s the Butler family from Port de Grave staked claims on the north side of the island. The iron ore mines brought 14,000 to Wabana within a few years,making it the second largest community in the Dominion of Newfoundland. During the life of the mines 101 workers lost their lives.The mines closed on April, 18, 1966. This little volume has a list of names of the souls lost. Also tells of the islands war contribution, and much local lore. Very scarce.
