Compilation of Lee's official correspondence and some of his letters to his family. Connective narrative provided by Clifford Dowdey.
Front Cover is gray cloth with red canon on a Virginia "seal-type" image for Civil War Centennial 1961-1965. Red lettering also on spine. Front and back end papers are printed maps.
Book condition: Very Good-. Spine and bottom front cover have a stain that did not appear to affect the book pages. Plus there is a 1/4" tear at the top of the spine. Slight corner wear. Front cover has come loose from end paper. Title page is loose from spine at bottom. Pages are lightly tanned, but otherwise clean and tight.
Dust Jacket condition: Fair. Bright red color on front, but spine is faded. Also many large tears and chips. Jacket is now in new Brodart cover.
994 pages including Index.
