About This Item

New York/London: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1935. David Lamson wrote this story of prison life while on San Quentin's death row. His conviction for murdering his wife was overturned; a second trial was hung. "As this book goes to press arrangements for a third trial are in progress." That third trial also resulted in a hung jury. Did he do it? Quercus believes that the jury is still out. This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition [Scribner's "A"].A popular book, it is surprisingly scarce today. Gray cloth binding titled in white on the spine and front cover. Clean text; 338 pages. Very fresh and bright. A bit of darkening around the edges; with a touch of rub to the tips (one frayed). The dustjacket is clipped and has several large chips at the edges. In an archival plastic protector.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good (Plus)/Very Good (Minus). 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
