San Francisco, CA: City Light Books, 1957. [Hipsterism] FIRST SEPARATE EDITION, FIRST ISSUE. Octavo pamphlet (22 x 14cm), pp.[32]. Including the essay, as well as a series of letters on the subject between the author and various correspondents. Publisher's photographic card covers, priced at 50c, and stapled twice. Some rubbing to spine, otherwise a nice clean copy. Near fine. Mailer's famous essay, first published in Dissent magazine, in which he equates the non-comformity of Post-War Hipsterism and the Beat Generation with Black non-conformist culture since the end of slavery in America.
