London: Macmillan & Co Ltd. Octavo (printer's signatures each eight leaves). Lightly tipped in to the front free endpaper is a letter with a Devon, UK address from the author, dated 11-5-32 to a Miss Rose trying to arrange a meeting in Devon. Apparantly a letter from Miss Rose had gone to her previous address in Gayfere Street, London. Although normally residing in Canada, clearly the author was living in the UK at this time. (the present owner acquired the book in Devon). Bookplate of N. V. Davey on the front pastedown. The dust jacket is protected, has minor wear and is not price clipped. . Fine. Hardcover. Edges toned, literary agent's label pasted diagonally to ffep: "Offered by/ Elaine Greene Ltd./ 2 Caxton Street, London, S.W.1.," else, clean and tight. In Phillippe Jullian's fabulously fitting dust jacket: toned, extremities nicked, spine sunned and a little rubbed. Still, Jullian's cover art remains vibrant. A pleasing copy of an attractive edition and an apt queer pairing of author and illustrator. VG/VG The first novel in Stacton's triptych on the theme of 'The Sexes'. New York, Grove Press, 2022, trade paperback, 272 pp, Advance Uncorrected Proof (ARC), New. Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process.
