Description:
New York: Alfred Knopf, 1927. First Edition. Hardcover. Contents clean and fresh; covers bright with sunning to the spine and darkening of the spine label. Very Good or better, lacking the scarce dustwrapper. Original green cloth with the first printing error on page 20. SIGNED by the author on the front free endpaper and quite scarce as such. There was a Limited Edition of 175 numbered and signed copies, but one rarely comes across a signed trade edition of this classic of American Literature. We found only two copies appearing at auction in the last 35 years, the Pforzheimer copy in 1987, inscribed to Carl Pforzheimer, and another inscribed copy in 2006. The present copy is signed only and on an integral sheet of the book, not on a piece of paper added later.

Published by Methuen & Co. London; 1931. 4to. Fine. **Signed by Both Kenneth Grahame AND E. H. Shepard** Limited edition numbered 82 of just 200!
This simply stunning book is in Fine condition. Tightly bound in original publisher's green cloth backed boards, with cream paper label to spine with title printed in black. There is some mild sunning to the spine and label, but otherwise the boards are clean with the only other signs of wear being marginal bumping to the spine ends and board corners and the faintest hint of toning to the edges. Inside, this beautiful book with hand-made pages is in excellent condition. There is only the faintest hint of toning to the page edges, as with the boards, but apart from this the pages are clean and bright and free from any damage or blemishes. Signed and numbered by both author and illustrator, just one year before Grahame's death, this is an incredibly rare book to become available, with it's beautiful illustrations, by the same illustrator that depicted Winnie the Pooh so timelessly. In all this is a superb copy of this wonderful classic, and is absolutely an investment for any book collector, which is sure to only gain in value as time goes by. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any queries regarding this exceptional book.

New York: Random House, 1951. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Dust Jacket Included. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Signed by Author. First Trade Edition, First state, with dark grey top-edge in the First Issue Dust Jacket [E. McKnight Kauffer misspelled, $3.00 price]. 8vo., 286pp. A fine copy. [No indication of edition stated as called for]. Nicely signed by Faulkner in black fountain pen at the top of the front free endpaper. Quarter-bound in black cloth over sea green cloth with gilt lettering to the spine. A very nice example of this work; a play, with long narrative sections, continuing the story of Temple Drake introduced two decades earlier in 'Sanctuary'. Faulkner's first book after winning the Nobel Prize. "I Decline to accept the end of man. He is immortal, not because he alone among creatures has an inexhaustible voice but he has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice and endurance". W.F. - Nobel Speech. While signed limited editions abound, signed trade editions are very uncommon as…

Black Sparrow Press, 1971. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine. Copy #16 of 250 numbered hardcover copies signed by Charles Bukowski. This copy has great provenance - being Bill Katz's copy, with facsimiles of two pre-publication letters from publisher John Martin to Katz (from December 1970 and January 1971), discussing Katz's prior pivotal review of 'The Days Run Away...' in Library Journal, which Martin credited for making the sale of the book, and discussing sending proofs of 'Post Office' to Katz, hoping for another Library Journal review. Katz in fact did write the review, the results of which Bukowski credited with helping him to become a full-time writer. This copy also includes the original Black Sparrow review slip, with Black Sparrow's note in pencil 'First novel - Bill Katz / dup. on shelf.' Also includes a facsimile of a carbon copy of Katz's letter to Bukowski presenting his personal view of 'Post Office' (as oposed to the review). A very near to fine copy of this important work, in…

He was a satirist, swordsmen, poet, and philosopher who indeed had a prodigious appendage. The book, excerpts of which are translated here under the title Journeys to the Moon and Sun, consist in equal parts of sci fi, philosophical speculation, metaphysical drama, theological humor, and freak show satire. Dirk Hagner: "'We saw a flood' is about our ignorance and complicity we exhibit in the destruction of this world brought on by human caused climate change. Its underlying verse structure is based on the anonymous 17th-century British verse 'I saw a peacock, with a fiery tail', an example of a nonsense or 'trick' poem part of a rich tradition of verses rooted in Anglo-Saxon riddles. "This work has been a year in the making. It consists of two facing books of 76 total pages, which are to be viewed and read in tandem. The odd pages of the left-hand book show changing groups of faces with the first half of a verse,…

New York, Grove Press, 2022, trade paperback, 272 pp, Advance Uncorrected Proof (ARC), New. Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process. Cohen explores themes that would permeate his later work, from shame and unworthiness to sexual desire in all its sacred and profane dimensions to longing, whether for love, family, freedom, or transcendence. There is not a foot of ground that has not been already scrutinized by a thousand eyes as keen as yours, and the old adage, "If new not true," may be applied to Jerusalem and her monuments with more propriety than to any other place on earth...." - Introduction from Poet and Peasant: A…
